For recipients

Received a demand letter?

A private demand is not a court judgment. Read it carefully and check the facts.

Verify the sender

Check the name, reference details, contact information, amount requested, and the underlying agreement. Verify unfamiliar payment instructions independently. Do not send passwords, bank credentials, or unnecessary identity documents.

Preserve your records

Keep the letter and envelope or email, any agreement, payments, messages, and relevant photographs. Note the date received and the requested response deadline.

Explain your position

If you respond, use the sender’s verified contact details. Explain what you agree with, what you dispute, and the records supporting your position. Keep a copy of your response and avoid statements you have not checked.

Consider an agreement

You may discuss a resolution or payment plan where appropriate. Put any agreed amount, dates, and conditions in writing. Do not assume a private demand gives the sender an automatic right to the money.

Court papers are different

If you receive a summons or other court documents, promptly check the court’s response instructions and deadlines. Do not rely on a demand-letter deadline. Consider speaking with a lawyer or local legal aid.

About Sueify’s role

A recipient response portal is not available. This page does not submit a response, notify a sender, or confirm that a letter is genuine. Sueify does not determine who is right or act as a lawyer for either side.
